History
The first Blackheath kite rally was held during summer 1977.
The European Kite Event was first held Easter, 1978. The last event was held Easter weekend, 2000.
Last year (2008) Blackheath once again hosted a huge kite festival only this time it had joined forces with Transport for London and National Bike Week to also promote cycling in the community and generally a healthy outdoor lifestyle.
In 2008 around 15,000 people attended the event over the two days and it is anticipated that this will increase to over 10,000 people each day.
Team MAD - Europe's No.1 mountain bike stunt display team perform all over the UK and Europe and have appeared on a number of television shows, such as 'Blue Peter' and 'The Big Breakfast', in the UK. For more information about MAD go to www.m-a-d.co.uk
